Bike Accessories

You might have the perfect bike, but do you have all the bike accessories you need to get the most out of cycling?

The shelves of bike stores are lined with all kinds of bike accessories. While some of these are more fashion than function, some of them can be quite handy to cyclists. Some of our favorite bike accessories include:

Improved Bike Saddles: Yes, your bike likely came with a saddle, or bike seat as many people call them. However, upgrading your saddle is a good idea, especially if you are a male.

Bike Bags: Bike bags that attach to the base of the bike saddle are great for holding repair kits, energy bars and more.

Tripmeters: Most cyclists I know like to know how many miles that log on a trip, how fast they are peddling, etc. This is where a tripmeter comes in handy.

Bike Peddles: While some bikes won’t need upgraded bike peddles, others benefit greatly from them. If you are a road cyclist, you should check out some of the clip peddles available. Pair these with shoe clips and you’ll get maximum power from your bike.

Have you tried any useful bike accessories recently?

Test Driving Bikes

With all of the bikes available on the market, how do you know which one is right for you? Before buying a bike, it is a wise decision to test drive a bike.

Most bicycle shops allow customers to test drive their bikes. Just riding a bike around the parking lot or down the street can give you a good feel for the bike. When test driving bikes, be sure to try out various models of both street bikes and mountain bikes.

Test riding bikes can also let you try different riding styles, different sizes of bikes and bikes made from different materials. Of course, be sure to wear a helmet when test riding bikes, as you are more likely to fall when riding a bike with which you aren’t familiar.
